Spaghetti bake +

Cook some spaghetti noodles, but not as done as you normally would.
Put the noodles in a casserole dish. Pour spaghetti sauce on top of the noodles. Grate cheese on top of that. Bread crumbs are a great plus, and some garlic powder on top doesn't hurt either.

Bake at 350 until the sauce is bubbling and the breadcrumbs and cheese are browning.

Eat it.

Gremlins for Dinner, or Dinner for Gremlins? +

I spend so much time on the Internet, and yet I spend so little time at my blog. How do I expect to attract readers if I never write anything?

Fortunately, though, I'm about to launch a couple of features which are sure to bring the masses flocking: the Random Recipe Picker, for dealing with dinner after a long day, and the Save My Gremlin initiative. Lucky you, I'm going to post pictures and updates on how the restoration of my most favorite car from the list of all the cars I've ever owned. It's a short list.

Flex Namespaces and MXML +

This is kind of cool: if you are making a Flex app and are writing your own classes, you can make a new XML namespace for them to reference in your MXML markup.

The default mx:Application opening tag gives one namespace property:

<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml/" layout="absolute">

This makes it so you can prefix the tags in the document with mx: and get all of the pre-built Flex classes, like the Panel, the Application, etc.

Turn Off Computer window takes forever to appear in XP +

This is just a spot for notes while I figure out what's going on. Some links to begin with:

USP fix +

This is just a handy place to write this down, I don't expect it to be useful to anybody else. I messed up a Drupal installation by extracting the Drupal base install archive in my sites/all/modules directory. My site then thought it was the wrong version of Drupal. Just removing the offending folder broke the site as Drupal couldn't find it's system and other important modules. These are the SQL queries that pointed Drupal back in the right direction.

refresh(BenjaminHowe.com); +

I've finally decided to make something of myself. Give myself some direction. Purpose. Reason for being. My online self, anyway. BenjaminHowe.com is on it's way to becoming useful. For as much as I might hope, I can't say that I expect it to be all that useful to the vast majority of the Human family, but I'm going to make it useful for myself, anyway.

Solved: Aptana crashes with error Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty +

I installed Aptana this morning, but when I tried to run it for the first time I was met with an unfriendly error message saying that Aptana had enountered an error and need to close, and that I should check the error log. The log complained that it couldn't find a particular shared library:

org.eclipse.swt.SWTError: (...) libswt-mozilla-gtk-3236.so: libxpcom.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

The circumstances surrounding the pomp +

Today is Sunday, May 3rd, 2009. Sunday, the day of rest, and how restful it shall be. A couple of important things happened yesterday. Not so much that a couple of things happened, I suppose, but that a couple of things ended. Actually, not that a couple of things ended, but that a couple of things actually began. It was the preparations for them that ended.

My percussionist brother +

My little brother finally discovered the magic of the tonal properties of music. Here's a video of a song he played and got some kind of award for.
